52 weeks of structured wellbeing

For the space between
“I’m fine” and “I’m thriving.”

You might be feeling alright and getting through the day. But something might feel a little flat, a little off, a little less than it could be. You may or may not be receiving care for your mental health. You’re just not quite where you want to be. Upward Spiral is a structured, 52-week wellbeing program built for exactly that place.

The gap no one talks about

Psychologists call it languishing.
Some of us call it Tuesday.

It might not be depression. It might not be a crisis. It’s that low-level flatness where you’re getting through the days but not really living them. You might be sleeping fine, showing up at work, keeping things together. And yet something feels like it’s missing.

You’ve probably tried things. Meditation apps that you open for two weeks and forget. Books that give you ideas but no structure. Maybe therapy, which helps, but doesn’t give you something to do in the other 167 hours of the week. Nothing has given you a real path forward that actually builds, week by week.

That is the gap Upward Spiral was designed to fill. Not crisis support. Not a meditation app. A structured, progressive program for people who are ready to actively build their wellbeing, not just manage it.

And if none of that describes you? If you are genuinely doing well and want to keep building? This program works just as well as mental fitness training. The same skills that help people move out of languishing are the ones that help thriving people stay there.

Meditation apps
Ten minutes of calm. Then life resumes exactly as before. No progression, no structure, nothing that builds.
Free programs or sites
Definitely better than nothing, but has a short-term focus. Not designed for sustained wellbeing work.
Weekly therapy
The gold standard when you need clinical support. High cost, limited availability, often a long wait to start.
Upward Spiral
52 structured weeks. Evidence-based. Self-paced. A real wellbeing program for the long space between “I’m okay” and “I’m genuinely well.”

Every single week

What a week inside Upward Spiral looks like.

Five elements. Each with a distinct role. Each week builds on the last. Most people find 30 to 60 minutes across the week is enough to feel the difference.

→ Insight
Weekly wellbeing read
A focused insight grounded in positive psychology and neuroscience. Sets the intention and theme for the week ahead.
~8 min
→ Practical Exercise
Applied activity
Journaling prompts, values work, or a small behavioral experiment. Takes the week from understanding to action.
10–20 min
→ Coping Skill
For life’s harder moments
A concrete skill for life’s more difficult moments. A portable tool to help smooth the road.
~5 min
→ Guided Audio
Weekly guided session
One guided audio session per week, themed to that week’s topic, available in a full-length version (15–25 min) and a shorter mini version (5–8 min). You choose whichever fits your day.
Full or mini, your choice
→ Reflection
Check-in and integration
A brief self-assessment and a single anchor question that closes the week. Journaling can track progress over time and opens the next week with intention. The program includes a built in private note taking mechanism.
~5 min

Most people spend 30 to 60 minutes per week across all five elements, spread across a few days.

That is what a week looks like. The best way to see if it fits is to try one.

You will not be charged until day 11. Cancel any time.

Honest fit

Who this is designed for.

This is not the right fit if
You are experiencing acute distress or a mental health emergency. Please reach out to your doctor or a crisis support line. Upward Spiral is a wellbeing program, not crisis support or clinical treatment.
You are looking for a quick fix or a motivational course. This program asks for genuine, sustained engagement over a full year.
If you are unsure whether this is appropriate for your situation, we encourage you to speak with your GP or a mental health professional first.
This is for you if
You feel like you’re doing okay but not really thriving. Not broken, not in crisis, but somewhere in the flat space between fine and genuinely well.
You want to treat your mental health the way you treat physical fitness. Whether you are building strength for the first time or already in a good place and want to stay there, this program gives you a structured practice to work with every week.
You are already in therapy and want something structured to work with between sessions, not instead of them.
You’ve tried apps and found them shallow. You appreciate evidence-based approaches and want a program with a real structure and a real arc.
You can commit to roughly 30 to 60 minutes per week. Not perfection, not every day, but consistent, deliberate time most weeks.

About the founder

Built by someone who believes wellbeing should be built, not just repaired.

Jean-Pierre Calitz holds a Master of Applied Positive Psychology, where his coursework and capstone focused on mindfulness, wellbeing, and performance. He also holds a Doctorate in Music Performance and has spent over twenty years in education, teaching, studying the science of how people learn and grow, and developing teaching approaches that meet individual students where they are.

Upward Spiral grew out of a simple conviction: most mental health support is focused on what is wrong. Very little is designed to help people move toward what is right. Toward flourishing. Toward a life that feels genuinely worth living. Two decades of teaching taught him that lasting growth requires sequence, pacing, and a curriculum that respects how people actually learn. This program exists to fill that space. Not as a replacement for therapy, but as a serious, year-long companion for people who want to actively build their mental wellbeing.

Every piece of content in the program has been crafted with care: each session crafted for warmth and clarity, the exercises tested for real-world usability, and the arc designed to create genuine, compounding change over a full year.
